cont. from front page: The next step is getting underway. Finishing the inside of the main building. This will be the museums head quarters. You will enter the building from the East End which houses an office, a meeting room/display room and a huge show room. The Massey Collectors will also have a library. It is going to be exciting to see all this happening. When the inside is done we will hold or meetings at the museum.
Yes once again we need help (don't you get tired of hearing us beg for help) so get out the tools and find out the schedule and show up a day or two for some body building chores, food and fellowship! We'll let you know the dates or days of duty and get some ladies to help provide a nourishing lunch. No - don't expect steak.
Building the pioneer village consisting of a long building with different store fronts. It will contain a general store (which will contain a gift shop), Milinery Shop, Dr. / Dentist Office / Toy Shop / Saloon (soda shop) for sandwiches, drinks and entertainment. A feed store and tool shed will be on one end..... A one room school, house and church will each sit seperately but close by.
Build a 70 X 300 ft. building to house displays of all sorts. Set up a home for a person to live in - a barn to house some farm animals and a garden for the public to share spaces and grow their own food. Build a camp ground for overnight camping. Put up three cabins near the fort for weekend rentals.
We love bus tours and mystry tours and can help you plan your visit to Greenville's other sites of interest see VISIT above. Family in town and need something to do.. Club entertainment... Birthday Parties.. We'll show you around, bake you a cake, serve you lunch.
Call 618-488-7758 to make arrangements
Our latest change will be a 1940 / 50's soda shop.
The barn is looking for a diner table and booth and a couple of chairs and stools from the soda shop 40/50 area. Of course advertising signs would also be welcome. If you can help us out give us a call
Hear it being mentioned that we may get a black smith shop back by the fort. George Gobberdiel has been working on this for some time. If this is your interest you might give him a call and offer your help (yep! I saod it again - help!)
Also hearing about a train barn. The guys will be able to keep the train at the grounds then and rides will be offered more often.
